Latest Initiative from the CAJS focus on Caribbean Digital Literacy and Human Resource Development Needs

Miami, FL, 6 December 2023 — The Caribbean Agency for Justice Solutions (CAJS) takes a bold step forward in addressing the region’s digital literacy and human resource development needs with the launch of the Apex Technology Academy (ATA). Dr. Marcia Headley, Director of ATA and a speaker at the recent Connected Caribbean Summit, unveiled this groundbreaking initiative aimed at building technical capacity to support the ongoing digital transformation efforts across the Caribbean.

“In the wake of increasing technological advancements and the growing imperative for digital transformation, the Caribbean faces critical capacity gaps that hinder progress. Recognizing this challenge, CAJS established ATA as a strategic response to the region’s pressing need for skilled professionals equipped to navigate the complexities of the digital age,” said Dr. Headley.

Bevil Wooding, Executive Director of CAJS, emphasized the importance of ATA in addressing the region’s capacity challenges. “The launch of the Apex Technology Academy represents a significant milestone in the fulfilment of CAJS’ mandate to support development of the local technical capacity required for successful digital transformation,” he stated.

Focus on Public Sector and Non-Profit Organizations

Dr. Headley explained that ATA recognizes the unique role in regional development played by public sector and non-profit organizations.

“The academy aims to empower individuals, both technical and non-technical, in the public and non-profit sectors with the knowledge and skills necessary to drive effective technology adoption, manage change, and design efficient processes,” she stated, adding, “ATA is designed to be a catalyst for positive change. Our goal is to equip individuals with the expertise needed to leverage technology for the benefit of their organizations and the broader community.”

Comprehensive Training Programs

Headquartered in Grenada with satellite locations across the region, ATA will offer a range of virtual and in-person certified courses, training programs, and workshops tailored to the diverse needs of individuals and organizations.

“The curriculum covers essential areas such as digital literacy, technology adoption, change management, and process design. These programs are structured to provide participants with practical skills and knowledge that align with real-world challenges,” Dr Headley noted, adding, “By contributing to the advancement of public sector and non-profit organizations, the academy’s impact is poised to extend beyond individual skill development, ultimately, driving broader regional progress.”
